Sharing-6th Grade

“Today’s BrightSpot!”

Can you remember a small act of kindness that made a huge difference for you? This story may inspire you to make today your day to return the favor!

“If you really want to make a friend, go to someone’s house and eat with him… the people who give you their food give you their heart.”
Cesar Chavez

Calei Akers, age 17 learned an important lesson one day about Sharing-6th Grade. He noticed that a fellow classmate never brought or bought her lunch so he stepped in to offer his. What seemed like a simple act of caring for him was actually a huge and generous gift for a young girl without resources and in need.

What he discovered may open our eyes to seeing someone in need and being willing to offer a helping hand. Take a minutes to view his BrightSpot, it may help you feel good and may also give you an idea about the importance of sharing! What’s easy for you and me, may not be so easy for someone else. This hits home especially if you’ve ever missed a meal or been in the position to be hungry.

What I learned after seeing Calei’s story is that it’s the little things in life that really count. I no longer question myself or hesitate when it comes to offering a hand to someone in need. Whether it’s a friend or stranger, anything I can do or give will make a big difference in brightening their day. I’m always surprised how great it makes me feel in the process.

After viewing Calei’s BrightSpot, what action will you take today to make someone’s life a little easier?
